Acne Free Lifestyle

Many people ask us "What does my lifestyle have to do with my acne problem?" The answer is: a lot!  We have broken down lifestyle into three main categories and just listed some of the common things that you can do to help your acne.

Detergents:

Harsh and scented detergents can harm your skin and washing important items too infrequently can contribute to your acne problem. Here are the three most important things you can do in this area.
1. Use Body, Face and Laundry cleansers and detergents that are mild, scent free and hypo-allergenic.
2. Wash or change your pillow case twice per week and your sheets at least once per week.
3. Do not use facial cleansers with soap or any lauryl/laureth sulfates (check the ingredient listings on your products in order determine if they contain any of these substances)

Stress:

A high stress life and environment can contribute to acne in a big way. This is hard for some people to avoid. Below we have outlined 1 simple step to help minimize the stress in your life.  Beyond this, always try to be aware of your stress level and be conscious of its effect on your skin and your body.

TIP: Breathe deeply at least 3 times per day. Most people only use a small portion of their lungs when they breathe. Breathing is one of our body's primary ways to eliminate waste. 3 times per day, when you are feeling stressed, take 10 deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth. Your stomach should expand with every in breath, not your chest. When doing this, it is best to close your eyes and focus on nothing but your breathing.

Exercise:

Proper exercise is an important aspect of anyone’s life. To keep your body, and your skin, in proper health, you must exercise on a regular basis. Your body must be efficient at eliminating waste in order to help curb your acne problem. Sweating is one of those mechanisms and a healthy heart and circulatory system also make a big difference.
1. Exercise at least 2 times per week for 30-60 minutes. This should include cardiovascular and resistance training.

Note:  Wash your face (and body) within 30 minutes of finishing your workout to minimize the chance the bacteria buildup.
